Are Bible marginal references always reliable?

Compiled and revised by various individuals and publishers over the years, these references are certainly helpful. However, keep in mind that, just like any other humanly devised Bible study aid, they are not inspired by God, as is Scripture. They are therefore not devoid of error, and should be used cautiously.
