Members of the Church of God observe Thanksgiving Day in the United States and Canada since this day is intended to honor God and show gratitude for the tremendous blessings He has given these nations. Its intent and origin are much different from other traditional holidays, such as Christmas and Halloween, which have ancient roots in pagan fertility rituals. Also, Jesus Himself set an example of observing certain national celebrations, such as the “Feast of Dedication” (John 10:22).
